Case Study 1: FTP Accelerates Data-sharing

DTDC has made Integration with an e-commerce customer for complete data availability between DTDC and Customer software application. Making use of an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) technology through CSV files, data is uploaded or downloaded at periodic intervals and processed at distributed warehouse locations depending on the data and location. Customer provides four separate files that contain the following categories of information:

  1. Order or Shipments to be Booked;
  2. Order Exchange(reverse logistics by which an old delivery is picked up in exchange for a new item);
  3. Order Cancelation;
  4. Payment Status

The DTDC system processes the Order Booking file, imports the same into software application to book and further makes it available into the system for operations. As scheduled, the data with specific information of Booking, Transit, Attempts, etc. get generated and uploaded automatically on FTP for the client access. Once the consignment is delivered, the delivery info/Return to Origin (RTO) and the payment updation will also get uploaded into the customer’s FTP server. The automation will work till the shipment life cycle gets completed by the process of delivery or RTO. The system also identifies the Order/Shipment which is to be cancelled and updated by the coordinator.

Case Study 2: Going Online for Planned logistics

A customized solution for one of our E-commerce Travel portal customers it helps to print the travel tickets & hotel booking vouchers and also delivers the same to the client in Cash of Delivery (COD) mode. The guest will do the provisional booking on customer portal or via a call center by choosing to “Pay by Cash”. Once the booking is registered in the portal, the same is verified by a courtesy call from customer back-office team. After confirmation from the guest, the back-office team will confirm the booking on the system and log in the booking in DTDC provided link for distribution, logistics and remittance process.

DTDC will book all these shipments in 'I' Series. The designated DTDC coordinator will log into the portal and reconcile all the order bookings that are available under the link for processing. Once it’s reconciled, the coordinator will book these shipments using DTDC Bulk Booking module and print the provisional bookings from the portal and put it in a DTDC envelop. An auto email confirmation voucher will be sent to the guest on his given email id. The printed "I" series shipment number will be attached to envelop and dispatched to the destination location. DTDC ensures distribution and logistics of these shipments for next business day deliveries and monitors the process with a team of customer service coordinators. In case of non-delivery, the system is updated accordingly with relevant reasons. After deliveries, cash payment collected is also updated into the system. For data visibility, auto mailers are set everyday 10.30 am to publish information related to booking, delivery, RTO and non-delivery to the customer.

Case Study 3: Smart Sharing of Customs Clearance Status

This solution is provided for one of our International E-commerce clients. DTDC created a separate FTP port wherein the Customer will push the XML files for Customs clearance . DTDC software application will pull these files and automatically import it into our system for distribution and logistics. Following an updated delivery status, DTDC will push this information back to the client system in XML format.

Case Study 4: TechMailer Manages Mass Mail

One of DTDC’s innovative solutions is TechMailer which is a standalone software application and a smart solution for mass mailers. The bar-coded TechMailer labels are printed from customer's database which doubles its functionality as an address label and also as an Airway Bill number. This system eliminates the manual job of handwriting or printing address stickers at client end. The pincode validation, shipment assignment, importing data, printing gate pass, generating pickup report, exporting data to DTDC system are fully automated. Subsequently, we have electronic proof of deliveries (e-POD) which are dispatched and delivered by mailers and are available in the form of reports for the client.The master tables of these TechMailers are synchronized with DTDC Server to update the client’s database and software systems.
